Biedermeier Mahogany box.
Very big Biedermeier box veneered with a spectacular
flame mahogany over massive oak. Germany, around 1820.
The brass escutcheon rhombus-shaped is typical for the Biedermeier
style. The straight and clean lines and the good materials and
construction are fitting perfectly for the first part of the nineteenth
century.
The wood is showing a wonderful patina accordingly to the age.
The inside is divided in four not symmetric parts. May be it was
used for medical or navigation tools. The walls that are dividing
these compartments are made of massive oak too.
Caja Biedermeier de Caoba.
Gran caja Bidermeier chapada en una espectacular
palma de caoba sobre roble macizo. Alemania, hacia 1820.
La bocallave de latón con forma romboidal es típica
del estilo Biedermeier. Las líneas rectas y limpias y los
buenos materiales y construcción, casan perfectamente con
la primera parte del S. XIX.
La madera muestra una patina maravillosa de acuerdo con la edad.
El interior está dividido en cuatro partes no simétricas.
Puede que fuera utilizada para útiles médicos o
náuticos. Las divisiones están realizadas también
en roble macizo.
