Magnificent big cameo bowl signed Andre Delatte,
Nancy, with its original wrought iron mounting from about 1920.
Dark violet flowers (we would say anemones) on a dark yellow-orange
background. The flowers are etched and additionally cut out of
the violet overlay. From the rim down about 2 cm. a stripe of
the overlay got etched away completely, the nearer to the bottom
the more of the overlay remains. The result is a subtle play with
colours that shows blue clouds on the sides of the bowl. Due to
the thick violet overlay remaining on the bottom the inside floor
of the bowl appears in violet to different tones of blue and even
light green.
Condition: Astonishing good condition. The glass without any losses,
one open bubble due to production. The iron parts show the originally
applied patina that is worn of in some few spots. Since long time
we haven’t seen an wrought iron item in this good condition
without any repainting, rust and reparations.

Magnífico gran bowl en cameo glass (camafeo),
firmado André Delatte, Nancy, con su montura original en
hierro forjado de alrededor de 1920.
Flores violeta oscuro (creemos que anémonas) sobre un fondo
de color amarillo-naranja. Las flores están grabadas al
ácido y recortadas del recubrimiento de cristal violeta.
Desde el borde superior ha sido eliminada al ácido una
línea de cristal violeta de unos 2 cms., pero según
nos acercamos al fondo mas de esta capa permanece. El resultado
es un sutil juego de colores que muestra sombras azules en los
lados del bowl. Dado que la gruesa capa violeta permanece en el
fondo, este presenta distintas tonalidades de violeta, azul e
incluso verde claro.
Condición; Increíblemente buena condición.
El cristal no tiene daños, solo una burbuja de producción
abierta. La montura de hierro muestra la pátina aplicada
originalmente, que esta un poco gastada en algunos pocos puntos.
Hacia bastante tiempo que no encontrábamos un artículo
de hierro forjado en esta condición tan buena, sin haber
sido repintado, sin óxido ni reparaciones.
