Very rare perfume lamp by Daum
with bronze mounting.
This is an exceptional piece very hard to find and were produced
very few of them.
The glass shade is coloured with a very vivid orange and blue
combination that offers an interesting contrast of colours when
the light is off, and shows a wonderful melting when the lamp
is lighted displaying then 3 colours, clear and dark orange and
the blue in different graduations.
On the top of the shade we find the receptacle for putting the
perfume essence that gets warm when the lamp is lighted and then
evaporates. Closing it has a bonze “hat” in the form
of an Oriental Plane (platanus orientalis) leave with it fruit.
This decoration is present also at the lamp base, where 3 of these
leaves with the fruit and their stems are together forming the
bronze base.
This special piece will be a great addition to a Daum glass collection
due to its rarity.
The shade is signed “Daum ( Lorrain Cross ) Nancy France”,
wheel carved corresponding to the year 1924. It has been impossible
to take a picture.
The mounting is not signed, but the quality and the organic design
is pointing to Majorelle.
DAUM;
The world-famous manufacturer, which still exists today under
the name "Cristallerie Daum", was founded in 1875 as
"Verrerie de Nancy". The manufacture was taken over
in 1887 by the two sons Auguste (1853-1909) and Antonin Daum (1864-1930).
The production had little personal style up until 1889, but was
inspired by Galle's success at the Paris World Exhibition in that
year. Around 1900 such important artists as Henri Bergé,
Damman and Emile Wirtz worked as painters and designers for the
production. As glassmakers appeared Adolphe Claude and Eugène
Gall, as polishers and engravers Sévère Winckler,
Jules Marchand and Racadot and after 1898 Jacques Gruber as designer
and painter of windows.
The manufacture Daum took part in many world exhibitions between
1889 and 1925, and succeed in an international break-through in
1900 at the Paris World Exhibition. Antonin Daum became a Knight
of the Legion of Honour, his manufacture was awarded the Grand
Prix.
From 1905 to 1930 worked together with other craftsmen such as
Edgar Brandt, André Groult, Louis Majorelle and the brothers
Nics, who made the iron mounts for Daum glass.
The lamps of the Daum manufacture are unmistakable in shape and
colour-effect, the ultimate in beauty.

Lámpara perfumadora Daum Nancy.
Muy rara lámpara perfumadora
de Daum con montura de bonce.
Esta es una pieza excepcional, muy difícil de encontrar
y de las que fueron producidas muy pocas.
La tulipa de vidrio está coloreada en una combinación
de tonos naranjas y azules muy vivos que nos ofrece un interesante
contraste de colores cuando la luz está apagada y muestra
una maravillosa fusión de colores cuando está encendida,
revelando 3 colores, naranja claro y oscuro y el azul en diferentes
graduaciones.
En lo alto de la tulipa encontramos el receptáculo para
colocar la esencia de perfume, que al calentarse cuando la lámpara
está encendida se evapora. Cerrándolo tiene un “sombrerete”
de bronce con la forma de una hoja de Plátano de Indias
(platanus orientalis) con su fruto.
Esta decoración aparece de nuevo representada en el pie,
donde 3 de estas hojas con sus tallos y frutos, forman la base
de bronce.
Esta pieza tan especial supondrá una gran adición
para una colección de vidrios de Daum teniendo en cuenta
su rareza.
La tulipa está firmada “Daum ( Cruz de Lorena ) Nancy
France”, grabada a la rueda, correspondiendo al año
1925. Nos ha sido imposible fotografiarla.
La montura no está firmada, pero atendiendo a su diseño
orgánico y a su calidad, apuntan a que pueda ser de Majorelle.
DAUM;
La manufactura mundialmente famosa, que todavía existe
bajo el nombre "Cristallerie Daum", fue fundada en 1875
como "Verrerie de Nancy".
Auguste (1853-1909) y Antonin Daum (1864-1930) asumieron el control
de la factoria en 1887.
La producción estuvo inspirada en el éxito de Galle
en la Exposición Universal de Paris del año 1887
y hasta 1889 tuvo poco estilo propio.
Hacia 1900 artistas tan importantes como Henri Bergé, Damman
y Emile Wirtz, trabajaron como diseñadores y esmaltadores
para su producción. Como vidrieros aparecieron Adolphe
Claude y Eugène Gall, como pulidores y grabadores Sévère
Winckler, Jules Marchand y Racadot y después de 1898 Jacques
Gruber como diseñador y pintor de vidrieras.
La manufactura Daum, tomo parte en muchas exposiciones universales
entre 1889 y 1925, y esto derivó en un importante progreso
internacional después de la Exposición Universal
de Paris de 1900.
Antonin Daum fue nombrado caballero de la Legión de Honor
y su manufactura recibió el “Grand Prix”, primer
premio.
De 1905 a 1930 colaboró con otros artistas como Edgar Brandt,
André Groult, Louis Majorelle y los hermanos Nics, que
fabricaban las monturas de hierro para los vidrios de Daum.
Las lámparas de la factoría Daum son inconfundibles
por sus formas y efectos de color, la belleza absoluta.
Condición;
Simplemente Perfecta. Ha sido recableada de acuerdo a los requerimientos
de la Europa Continental.
