This is a beautiful and collectable pewter coffee
service of German Jugendstil (Art Nouveau).
The service consists in 4 pieces, coffee pot, milk jug, sugar
bowl and a tray.
The design typical for this era shows a strong mix of geometric
and organic elements and this set is certainly one good example
by its intricate design.
The most exciting features are the stylish handles and the rich
geometric pattern that are found along the body. Notice also the
spectacular treatment of the spouts and the knobs. The coffee
pot has 2 horn rings as insulators at the handle.
We have to mention that the tray doesn’t belong to the coffee
set, it is made by Kayserzinn, but fits very well with the rest
of the pieces, being from the same style, material and time. If
you prefer the coffee service without the tablet, we can make
an arrangement.
This service was manufactured around 1902–04 by GERHARDI
& CO (Lüdenscheid, Germany). It is an example of the
attention paid to design in the German Jugendstil.
It is a good example of how mechanization allowed these utilitarian
objects to remain affordable to the consumer whereas the designer
made them attractive.
These pieces are highly collectable and are in the best private
collections and Applied Arts Museums all around the world.
This is a fabulous piece from the Art Nouveau period, by a most
prominent producer from this period.
Gerhardi & Co (1800-1930)
The factory of Gerhardi in Lüdenscheid (Germany) has its
origins in the eighteenth century but started producing under
the name Gerhardi & Co in 1800. From 1902 onwards, the firm
made several beautiful designs and cooperated with great names
in that time such as, Peter Behrens, Maurice Dufrène (France),
Albert Reimann, Albin Müller, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Paul
Haustein and Gottlieb Heintel (Berlin).
The factory closed in 1930.

Condition:
The coffee service has a good condition, with marking to the surface
of the pewter consistent with age. There are some small dings
in the body of the pieces, consistent with age and use. This is
a fabulous piece from the Art Nouveau period, by a most prominent
producer from this period.

Este es un bellísimo y coleccionable juego
de café de estaño de estilo Jugendstil (Art Nouveau)
Alemán.
El servicio consiste en 4 piezas, cafetera, azucarero, jarra para
la leche y bandeja.
El diseño, típico de esta época, muestra
una fuerte mezcla de elementos geométricos y orgánicos
de los que este servicio es un buen ejemplo con su intrincado
diseño.
Las características mas excitantes son las asas llenas
de estilo y el rico diseño geométrico que encontramos
a lo largo de las piezas. Destacable también el espectacular
tratamiento dado a los pomos y los picos de la cafetera y la jarra.
La cafetera tiene 2 anillos aislantes de cuerno en el asa.
Tenemos que mencionar que la bandeja no corresponde al juego de
café, está fabricada por kayserzinn, pero conjunta
muy bien con el resto de las piezas siendo del mismo estilo, material
y época. Si usted prefiere el servicio sin la bandeja,
podemos arreglarlo.
Este juego de café fue producido hacía 1902-04 por
GERHARDI & CO (Lüdenscheid, Alemania).
Es un ejemplo de la atención que el Jugendstil alemán
prestaba al diseño.
Es un buen ejemplo de cómo la mecanización permitió
a estos objetos de uso diario permanecer alcanzables al consumidor
mientras que el diseñador los hacía atractivos.
Estas piezas son muy coleccionables y están representadas
en las mejores colecciones privadas y Museos de Artes Aplicadas
de todo el mundo.
Esta es una pieza fabulosa del periodo Art Nouveau de uno de los
productores mas destacados del periodo.
Gerhardi & Co (1800-1930)
La factoría de Gerhardi en Lüdenscheid (Alemania),
tiene sus orígenes en el S. XVIII pero comenzó a
producir con el nombre de Gerhardi & Co. en 1800. Desde 1902
en adelante la firma produjo numerosos diseños de gran
belleza y cooperó con grandes nombre de la época
como; Peter Behrens, Maurice Dufrène (Francia), Albert
Reimann, Albin Müller, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Paul Haustein
y Gottlieb Heintel (Berlin).
La factoría cerró en 1930.
