Important art nouveau (Secessionist/Jugendstil)
tray designed by the Belgian Architect Gustave Serrurier-Bovy,
Belgium between 1902 - 1908.
The tray is made out of copper and brass parts that are soldered
and screwed together.
The outline of the main plate is boat shaped with brass galleries
and handles and feet. The gallery and handles are showing a square
pierced decoration.
The design represents the geometric school within the art nouveau
movement as it can be found with artists of the Vienna Sezession
(Otto Wagner, Adolf Loos, Koloman Moser, Josef Hoffmann) and the
Dutch designer Jan Eisenloeffel.
In fact Serrurier Bovy is considered to be the forerunner of the
geometric school.
His designs never became just an addition of geometric forms but
each item was developed in a unique new way considering its function.

Bandeja Serrurier-Bovy.
Importante bandeja art nouveau (Jugendstil/secesionista)
