Art nouveau sewing table made of walnut, this
furniture has been made around 1900.
It represents a style that is between the floral and the geometric
schools of the art nouveau movement. It reminds of the works
that have been realized in Munich, Germany.
The plate can turned to the left and then opened. This construction
is found seldom with sewing tables although it is very convenient
for work or in case you would like to use it as occasional table.
The table has two drawers. The upper one has compartments for
yarn, needles, scissors etc. This drawer has the original lock
and key... as with all our furniture in working condition. Also
the two butterfly shaped escutcheons/handles are the original
ones.
Situated under the drawers is another small plate with railings
and near to the floor a footrest. The feet are standing on little
wheels that are also antique. An interesting detail is that
the wheels themselves are turned out of buffalo horn.
Size: width closed 58 cm, depth 42 cm, high 81
cm. Opened the plate measures 84 x 58 cms.
Costurero Jugendstil de Nogal.
Mesa costurero en nogal, de hacia 1900. Tiene
un estilo que está entre el estilo floral y el geométrico
del movimiento art nouveau. Presenta formas redondeadas y estilizadas
que recuerdan a los trabajos realizados en Munich, Alemania.
El plato, la tapa, tiene dos alas que se pueden desplegar. La
tapa se gira hacia la izquierda y entonces permite la apertura.
Esta construcción se encuentra muy raramente en costureros
a pesar de que resulta muy conveniente para trabajar o si Vd.
quiere usarlo como mesa auxiliar.
Tiene 2 cajones, el superior con compartimentos para los hilos,
las agujas, las tijeras, etc..., como todas la mesas costurero,
y el de abajo diáfano. El superior tiene cerradura original
y llave y, como en todos nuestros muebles, funcionando. Las
dos bocallaves son originales, con formas que recuerdan a mariposas.
Tiene un estante intermedio rodeado de una barandilla, reposapiés.
Las patas se apoyan en pequeñas ruedas también
originales. Un detalle interesante es que están hechas
de cuerno de búfalo.
