Jugendstil Loetz Glass Biscuit
Barrel.
Wonderful Jugendstil biscuit barrel by Loetz with
gilded bonze mounting. Pre-1900, probably 1897.
The body has the typical biscuit barrel form, with a hinged lid
and an applied knob on the top.
The mounting and the handles are made in gilded bronze, with a
wonderful design of stylized stems, leaves and nenuphar flowers.
The glass pattern is named “Candia (Clear) Chine”
without iridescence. The “Chiné” decor has
thin glass threads spun around the body in irregular patterns.
It is not to be confused with the type of glass that was produced
by Kralik. Loetz “Chiné” came in clear, opal,
green and pink. Kralik “Chiné” in dark purple.
In this case we have no doubts about the Loetz attribution even
without signature. As far as it is known, Loezt was signing only
the pieces for the exhibitions and some of the ones for export.

Galletero de vidrio Jugendstil Loetz.
Maravilloso galletero Jugendstil de Loetz con montura
de bronce dorado. Pre.1900, probablemente 1897.
El cuerpo presenta la típica forma de un galletero con
tapa unida por una bisagra y un pomo aplicado en la parte superior.
La montura y las asas son de bronce dorado con un maravilloso
diseño de tallos, hojas y flores de nenúfar.
El patrón decorativo del vidrio se llama “Candia
(incoloro) Chiné” sin iridiscencia. El decorado “Chiné”
tiene finos hilos de vidrio estirados alrededor del cuerpo en
patrones irregulares. No se debe confundir con el tipo de vidrio
producido por Kralik. El “Chiné” de Loetz aparece
en vidrio transparente, ópalo, verde y rosa. El “Chiné”
de Kralik en morado oscuro.
En este caso no tenemos dudas sobre la atribución a Loetz
incluso sin firma. Hasta donde se conoce, Loetz solo firmaba las
piezas para exhibiciones y algunas de las destinadas a exportación.
