Outstanding French Art Deco oval mirror with landscapes
“reverse painted” on glass.
A very exclusive and decorative mirror that would look great
over your fire place, in your bedroom or your home entrance
hall.
The frame is divided in 3 fields, the central one with the hand
bevelled mirror and the 2 sides with the paints.
The paints are depicting autumn landscapes with houses, a way
and the forest on the back.
This paints are made with the “Reverse painting”
technique, where the artist has to start with the details on
the foreground and then go back to the background, just inverse
to the usual way. Something quite difficult for an artist, he
or she had to have very good skills.
These landscapes are enamelled on glass in the inside and on
the outside the glass is frosted. We didn’t find any signature.
The complete frame is made of wood, covered with gesso and then
decorated.
The decoration simulates to be inlaid work, but is all hand
painted. At the 2 sides and in the upper and lower centre a
decoration of gilded roses is applied.
The golden cord for to hang the mirror has a tassel (pom-pom)
hanging on each side. It is not the original one, it had to
be replaced for security, but looking as it was originally.
Signed in the back of the mirror "M.F." and
dated, 22-10-25 (1925).
Condition:
Very good with the typical spots on the glass.

Espejo Art Deco con paisajes.
Excepcional espejo ovalado Art Deco Francés,
con paisajes sobre vidrio en la técnica de “pintura
inversa”.
Un exclusivo y muy decorativo espejo que quedará maravilloso
sobre su chimenea, en su dormitorio o en la entrada de su hogar.
El marco está dividido en 3 secciones, la central con
el espejo biselado a mano y los lados con las pinturas.
Estas representan paisajes otoñales con casas, un camino
y el bosque al fondo.
Las pinturas están realizadas con la técnica de
“pintura inversa” en la que el artista debe pintar
primero los detalles que quedarán en primer plano y después
ir alejándose hacia el fondo, justo al revés de
lo habitual. Algo bastante difícil para un artista, el
o ella tuvo que tener muy buena técnica.
Los paisajes están esmaltados sobre vidrio en la cara
interior y en la exterior el vidrio está esmerilado.
No hemos encontrado ninguna firma.
El marco es de madera, estucado y decorado.
La decoración simula ser un trabajo en marquetería,
pero es pintada a mano. A los lados y en los extremos superior
e inferior tiene aplicadas decoraciones de rosas doradas.
El cordón dorado para colgarlo tiene 2 pompones a los
lados. No es el original, tuvo que ser reemplazado por seguridad,
pero es igual que el original.
Firmado en la trasera del espejo "M.F." y
datado, 22-10-25 (1925).
Condición;
Muy buena con los típicos puntos en la luna.
